Our very own Nightrider, Head of Lending - Dave Old, completed the 2017 London Nightride raising money for George and the Giant Pledge.
Dave battled through 50km of London Streets last weekend, along with approximately 3,000 other cyclists, taking sites such as Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge in the early hours of Sunday morning. Setting off at just before midnight on Saturday it took Dave just under 3hrs to complete the circuit which began and ended at the site of the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
Dave has been raising money for George and the Giant Pledge, a fundraising effort initiated by Vicki and James Woodall, from Redhill, following their four year old boy, George, being diagnosed with cancer, to help The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity help other children in the same position as George.
A tired but happy Dave confirmed ‘I am delighted to be able to do my part to raise money for such a worthwhile cause. The work carried out at The Royal Marsden is amazing. As a parent myself it’s something I hope to never have to experience myself, but for those unfortunate enough to have to go through this it’s invaluable.’
Dave has raised £873 so far, including £250 from the Society, for the Pledge.
The ride may have finished, but the fundraising does not. You can still donate to Dave’s ‘JustGiving’ page here - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/D-Old.
